Maybe one day you have asked yourself how the big sales companies keep and manage so many goods they distribute. We assure you that this is not an easy process since it involves a lot of planning by the people in charge. Storage and logistics are key pieces when we talk about merchandise management.

The scale and type of product must be taken into account, this will determine the management and knowledge of the stock. With online businesses becoming increasingly common, it is normal that the ways in which products are collected and managed become complex.

Goods logistics

Many people think that goods management is an individual process, carried out by a single person or a single group of people, but nothing could be further from the truth. For it to work, freight logistics must be taken as a multidisciplinary process.

For example, we find freight companies that are responsible for carrying the load from one point to another, always on time and with the utmost care. Their aim is to ensure that suppliers have no problems and that the service is as effective as possible.

On the other hand, we find the warehouse. This is a space that should be prepared to house the goods, optimizing the use and avoiding any inconvenience due to lack of space. It must be equipped with the necessary equipment such as forklift or refrigeration system.

The above is coupled with the management of goods, since all cargo requires special treatment, whether it is temperature for conservation, mode of transport, etc., it is very important that the company in charge takes care of this aspect. As it is also important to have all the documentation in order, this in order that there are no problems in the shipments or reception of elements.

Inbound Processing of Goods in the Warehouse

In this process the different products from different sources of supply, whether suppliers or factories, arrive at the warehouse to be classified, controlled and introduced into the warehouse management system. Once this is done, the products are placed in the storage facilities to be sent to the customers as required.

This process, although it is simple, is divided into three states:

  1. In the first one, we proceed to unload the product in case it arrives in transport, this is done mainly with the biggest loads.
  2. Then we check all the documentation, verify that we are the recipients and the amount of goods that should arrive.
  3. The next step is to check that all the goods are in good condition. To do this, the cargo is checked one by one, confirming that it has not been manipulated, that there are no open or broken boxes, humidity, etc. In case there is any anomaly, it must be included in the corresponding documentation, this is done to have a record and later claim on the damage.

Conclusion

We hope that it has been useful to you, in case you have any doubts. And above all, remember that from our TPV you can manage all the logistics of the goods to always have it updated and not make any mistake when selling your products.
