The barcode gun
InnovaCommerce POS works with all barcode guns on the market as long as they are keyboard emulation (99%). To check that your gun is valid, it must read the barcode and add a carriage return (the equivalent of pressing the ENTER key). To test it, open a text file and do a test there, when reading, the read code should appear and the cursor should move to the next line.
There are guns that bring disabled that addition of carriage return at the end of the reading, so in InnovaCommerce TPV will not work properly. Read the manual of that gun to enable this function.
The cash drawer with InnovaCommerce POS
To use a cash drawer in InnovaCommerce POS you don’t have to do anything special, rather, you have to configure this drawer with our ticket printer. Practically all ticket printers manufactured since 2008 until now include such configuration in their driver. This was done so that they don’t have to go around configuring complicated escape sequences and with this they get more universality and less application compatibility problems.
This is why it is essential that the printer’s windows drivers are correctly installed, otherwise the coin box will not work with InnovaCommerce POS
Depending on the printer model, the configuration may differ, but in general they all work the same way and it is based on this pattern.
1 – Enter the printer menu of your computer (start –> printers and faxes in windows xp and control panel –> devices and printers in win Vista/7/8)
2 – Locate the printer and with the right button, access its printing properties.
3 – If the driver is correctly installed, there should be an option called “special jobs”, or “advanced configuration”, etc, the case is that in that option you should see, somewhere the following:
- Cash drawer #1
- Cash drawer #2
and should contain a drop-down menu with several options, including “open before printing” or “open after printing”, select the desired one.
With that point, the printer will send a drawer opening pulse before or after printing (as specified). With this, the drawer will be correctly configured.
It is necessary to emphasize that sometimes this option is very hidden, we recommend that you look in all the possible options of the controller (properties, advanced options, all the tabs and buttons that we see) until you find the “cash drawer”.
Use an escape sequence for the coin box
There are older printers that use the familiar escape codes which is a sequence of numbers that will cause the drawer to open. These numbers are different for each printer and are in the printer’s manual. The escape codes (ascii codes) should be separated by a semicolon.
